In various design domains, there are some universal design. Universal design is the design indicator that Ronald Mace proposed.,should be usable fairly to become dull, and should be easy to use it, should be safe,and etc, it is from seven principles.
The reason why universal design became a boom, the figure of design original which there should have been, has been beyond us in these days. Then what had been lacking in font design?
A sudden change in recent society puts us firstly "ubiquitous society" (the society where there is a computer anywhere). And it is the arrival of aging. A font design does not follow this sudden change. There is a problem in using a letter with a traditional print medium (a paper medium) on, for mobile-phone and a display of a PC.

What should be the font design as universal design? What will be demanded? I try to think about the font design which is displayed in LCD.

The font design for print has been small face, as balance is conscious conventionally while there is much quantity of fonts to display.
In the other hand, Uni-Type in an optical display, demands a a face greatly because there is little quantity of fonts. Even if small size font, it should be high "identification fonts", and be distinctly in a split second.
On the following concept, We aimed at both the realization of a marked readability, and thing to "make a face big", with a new style font design. It is no need to say that it should be beautiful design.

1. Clear simple line constitution
2. Thickness of a reasonable line
3. Emphasis of an element characterizing a font
4. A good line to be able to sight
5. Taking an interval between lines greatly
6. A wide breast (The space that was surrounded at a line)
7. New trial which is not in the tradition of the traditional character design

In fact, it is considerably realized the above writtend with Lim Uni-Type which LIM Co., Ltd. developed.
LIM gets high evaluation as the company which promoted achievements of a pioneer to a display font design. Besides, on an above concept, we planned identification more improvement.
